Founder’s Day 2015: Honoring Smithfield’s Veterans

This year for Founder’s Day, the Historical Society wants to celebrate our veterans.  Founder’s Day will be celebrated on October 10, 2015 in the Historic Smithfield Tabernacle.  There will be an open house at 4 pm and then a short program at 5 pm.  We will have booths with displays of artifacts and pictures from past wars.  We have a special treat of having some audio and video interviews of Smithfield residents who served during World War II and the Korean War that will be playing during the open house.  We would also like to recognize any past and current residents of Smithfield who served in the many branches of the military.  If you are a veteran or know of one, please let them know we invite them to join us for our program.  There will be a few speakers and some fun music from the WWII era, as well as patriotic songs for everyone to enjoy.  There will be refreshments afterward. See you there!
